Notes from PID Control - A brief introduction

Open Loop commanding

  • Drive a robot to a point.
  • Robot drives at constant speed
  • Calculate the distance to the point and drive time X at speed Y to get there.

There’s an error signal if there’s problems with the robot wheels

Mesure the error - the distance to the goal and then adjust travel to reach goal.

PID Controller - is used in most industrial applications.

Proportional Integral Derivate

Describes how the error term is handled.

You can select form the PID list

  • P - proportional controller only
  • I - integral controller only
  • D - Derivate Controller only
  • PD - Porportional and Derivate
