Crossroads of Twilight is the tenth book in Robert Jordans famous Wheel of Time book series.
My reviews of the series
- The Eye of the World
- The Great Hunt
- The Dragon Reborn
- The Shadow Rising
- The Fires of Heaven
- Lord of Chaos
- A Crown of Swords
- The Path of Daggers
- Winter’s Heart
As these stories are rather long, rather then review the plot I’m just going to refer Wikipedia for a plot summary.
This book sucks, it and Winter’s Heart should have been heavily edited and merged together.
Seriously? Mat is hiding out with a Traveling Circus? Could the story get any more cliche. The “romance” between Mat and Tuon is forced and shallow. The book wastes so many pages on other useless drivel but this part of the story is given short shift. It feels like it just needs to happen for other later plot points but Robert Jordan couldn’t figure out how to make it work in a convincing way so he just made it happen.
Logain keeps bubbling up in the plot and he’s an interesting character but he kind of gets lost with all the Egwene angst. I think this a subplot that could have been explored more.
After all this boring siege talk nothing remarkable happens in either Tar Valon or Camelyn.
In the end Egwene is captured while doing something to the chain at Tar Valon? I didn’t understand what when I read it. Accoridng to the chapter summary she changed it to cuendillar. I don’t understand how that blocks the harbor.
There’s only four books left in the series. I’m going to finish it but oh, wow, this one was rough. I hope the next one is better. I guess its Robert Jordan’s last book. I’m glad he didn’t end on this one.
