So far 2025 has been a very difficult year.

I wasn’t enjoying my job at Equinix and I decided to take a job at a internet storage startup Tigris Data.

About a month after I joined Tigris Data when I was still struggling with the challenge of starting a new job at a startup my father-in-law went in for hernia surgery. This turned out to be much bigger event then we expected putting a huge amount of pressure on my wife.

While this was happening we moved my daughter (briefly) home from Champaign IL and then out to Chicago. She lived in the South Loop at Arc of the Old Colonies for the summer. This was kind of fun as taking her to the “big city” was kind of cool, but it was still very stressful because she still feels like a kid to us.

Just after moving Maddie to Chicago a massively traumatic event happened in the family thats difficult to discuss on a forum like this blog that put us into disarray from the last days of May for really the rest of the summer. Because of this I stopped participating in my sailing club and spent the next couple of months massively stressed out.

The summer was a bit of a blur and now I look up and its September!?! Where did the year go?

I think life is recovering a bit now. I started reading for the first time in months and I’ve done a little sailing. we’ve moved Maddie back from Chicago and again back to Champaign for college. Work, while still stressful, doesn’t feel quite as bad. I’m hopeful the winter will go well, but wow, what a difficult nine months.
